home page text and footer do not show on home page

I cannot seem to get my main page text to show up. It is defined in the Define Pages Editor, but will not show on my home page. Also my footer isn't showing on the home page only, but shows on every other page. I have tried copying over some of my files with fresh copies but to no avail. I have search the forum and the web in general but can't seem to find a post that specifically addresses this issue. Any help would be very welcome.

You have a php syntax error in your language files. Probably in your index.php.

Your page is failing right before the greeting loads. If you edited that, it's likely you made a mistake.

Ok I found the text in the languages/english/index.php file. I copied the file over with a fresh copy. I still don't have a footer on the home page, nor do I have a footer on any other page.

Should I just copy a whole new file set over? this shouldn't effect any template overrides I've done, correct?

Provided you have used overrides correctly for all your changes you shouldn't lose anything. However, that's a lot of work for, most likely, zero benefit.

The problem is going to be in what you have changed, so that's where you need to look.

How did you get on with the debug tool in the FAQ Entry to which I directed you? That should be giving you the file and line number where your problem is occurring.
