Shipping ... Free for USA/International Base Rate plus Charge Per Item

Hey Fellow Zen Cart-ers,

We are currently using Zone Rates to ship items in the US and to other countries. Shipping to the US is free on all orders and $4.99 to other countries.

What we would like to do is keep the free shipping in the US and charge a base shipping rate plus and additional charge per item on orders going to other countries.

EXAMPLE:
Someone in the UK orders 6 items. They would be charge $4.99 plus 75¢ on each item they order.
$4.99 + $4.50 (6 items x $.75) = $9.49 for shipping

Any help of advice that can be offered to make this work would be greatly appreciated.

Create a Zone for the US ... what you consider to be the US ...

Set Free Options freeoptions to be for the US Zone and set the Total >= 0.00

Clone the Item Rate item so something like itemuk.php ... search on:
clone item

for examples how to do this ...

Create a Zone for the UK and add it to this cloned Item Rate shipping module and set the Handling to 4.99 and the unit charge to .75 ...

Use the Zone Rate module and set the Skip Countries to:
US, GB

Set the First Zone to:
00

Set the Rate to:
10000:4.99

NOTE: you don't have to clone Item Rate, but it sounds like you might later change your mind and want a new Item Rate for somewhere besides UK and it is easier to learn how to do this now ...
