Ok, thanks very much.

I was told to switch from AIM to SIM because of PCI liability issues, now Im beginning to think the safest thing to do is to not accept credit cards.
Is there anyway to get AIM to be as secure paypal, since they both are offsite payments?

Why do you think the AIM is *not* safe?anyway to get AIM to be as secure paypal

As well as ZC developer references over the years on these forums to use AIM over SIM.
AIM is out for me due to PCI, so its SIM or nothing. I guess Im looking for assurances that SIM is as secure as Paypal, or if SIM is an older use at your own risk thing like the old (now gone) manual credit card module.

Why would you not want to offer your customers the smoothest, most secure checkout? Off site payment methods cause cart abandonment.AIM is out for me due to PCI

I would love to stay with AIM, but the writing is on the wall with the 7/1/10 PCI requirements. I have been told there is no way to be PCI bulletproof running zen cart with custom code (mods) on a shared server.
So SIM it is for better or for worse....
I guess SIM's "less secure" part is the fact that zc is forwarding the customer to another site, instead of securely transmitting data in the background? so I guess SIM is as secure as paypal is because they use the same method?

Its seems to the consensus from a number of different sources. The bottom line is the whole PCI thing is not very clear and open to a great deal of interpretation. By not accepting credit card info on my server or application I'm lessening this risk.
