Sales tax is being calculated into product price. Just need it for a specific state

I need to set-up Sales tax only for orders shipped within the State of South Carolina.

The tax is automatically being calculated into the product price - adjusting the gross. This is not what I want or need.

I set up

Tax Class Title: Taxable Goods

Zone: South Carolina

Tax Rate (%): 7.000

Description: SC TAX 7.0%

Priority: 1

for more clarification, under the product info when you add a new product or edit an existing one the gross price is being adjusted by the 7% tax rate for every product that is set to taxable goods and it is displaying on line at this price.

Only orders shipped to a South Carolina address should be taxed.

Update - changed 'Displays price with tax' to false and that solves the tax being added to the listed prices, however, no tax is being charged/added at checkout for my test order with SC address.

It lists SC Sales tax, but shows $0.00

So what am I doing wrong??? I have read the tutorial and numerous posts and can't find the answer.

Edit your Zone Definition for South Carolina details ...

Country: United States
Zone: South Carolina

on the setting?

Also check what the tax is based on in the Configuration ... My Store ...

Basis of Product Tax
On what basis is Product Tax calculated. Options are
Shipping - Based on customers Shipping Address
Billing Based on customers Billing address
Store - Based on Store address if Billing/Shipping Zone equals Store zone

Shipping
Billing
Store

the default is Shipping, but be sure to set it for your state ...

If your store is SC, then you will see the calculation on the Product Add/Edit ... but that is not displayed on the site unless you have turned on the tax display for the catalog ...

Are you just seeing this in the Admin or in the Catalog as well?
