Can I make Fax number mandatory?

I wonder whether it is possible to set the fax number field during registering process as a mandatory?

is it possible?

The point I am making is that most people no longer use fax machines. If you make this a required field, what do people put into it if they don't have a fax machine or a fax number?

ok, in my cart i changed the name of a field 'fax number' to another which I would have a mandatory.


and also all my clients will be to register with the status 'Pending Approval - May browse with prices but May not buy', and I want to display this information as soon as they logged on. but changing the status to 'aproved' I would like to display once they successfully log on home page

Put simply I would like to display information on the Home page for the client immediately after they log in when:

if (CUSTOMERS_APPROVAL == 3)

echo "you cannot do shopping";

}

I need this too so hopefully someone can help.

As schoolboy points out, fax machines are the way of the dinosaur ;-) SO I have changed the text to something else - we need the customer to tell us whether their address is suitable for courier (simple yes or no answer will do) but I want the answer to be compulsory.

Adding an extra field for this seemed way too tricky and dont need the fax number so this seemed an easy way round it.

Would also like to make that field a bit longer.

Any suggestions??

hello All!!

This will be helpful for me too.

I changed the fax field to vendor number. I would need it to be filled with 8 digits as some people have left it blank.

The digit value isn't as important as having that field filled some something.
