Need help with entering product info

Hi,

I am having huge problems entering html code into the define pages editor for the product descriptions and images etc

When trying to use the HTMLarea layout to enter code, nothing works as it should. Its impossibe to use and the results are terrible. The actual editor is riddled with bugs and is practically unusable. I have no idea why it is included to be honest.

I tried the FCKEditor add on and that didn't seem much better really. Was not very effective.

I have tried using things like coffee html editor but the code that it creates breaks out of the display area and just overlays the whole site in the top corner.

I really have no idea how to go about adding html to the define pages sections of the cart. I just can't get anything to work properly. I am obviously doing something horribly wrong but I have no idea what.

Is there somewhere I can go to get help with this.

Can you give us an idea of what you are trying to achieve?

As an alternative, you can always code your html in the program of your choice. Then in the HTMLArea editor you will see an icon similar to this <> - that is the toggle between source and edit views. Go to the source view and paste in your html code. Then save the page before viewing it.

Hi I am a beginner too but your question could be better answered if you gave a link to your site. If you are entering information regarding your products ... you go admin>catalogue>categories/products and enter descriptive text there.

While I am a proponent of answering the posting tips, it's not necessary to see a site to discuss the define pages editor.

It's not great but it will get the average Joe by without too much problem.

<> Is a good way to go to post any html that is not riddled with proprietary code (Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc).

<> Will also create some "interesting" results if you add php or any other coding that is not html. Things will look okay until the next time that file is opened in the Define Pages Editor. When a file with non-html embedded code is opened in the editor, it strips the non-html code. So, your page may look good the first time and lousy after it is opened later in the editor.
