Are there any security patches added into 1.3.9(a,b,c,d,e,f) that are not in 1.3.8a with all security patches (per Dr Byte list for 1.3.8a?)
Or if you have 1.3.9a is that equal to 1.3.8a patched from a security point of view?
If that is true then what is the point of updating to 1.3.9f if your cart is working OK with your mods that your using?
Secondly dealing with upgrading:
They say all you have to do is compare files in doc folder and make changes, this sounds so simple. From 1.3.8.a to 1.3.9f we are talking about hundreds of files and many hours. It sure looks quicker and safer to do a clean install.
As an example would it not be quicker to compare 1.3.8x with all security patches and without any mods installed to 1.3.9f without mods installed making changes to 1.3.9f for your shop (saving as a master new ver), then install each mod to a copy of new master to insure you have latest mods that are compatible to the latest update?
Third:
Why can't the latest “f” upgrade include previous “a,b,c,d,e” instead of installing each "x" version?
Fourth:
Using “Beyond Compare” can you compare 1.3.8 (the complete cart files) to the latest revision 1.3.9f or do you have to compare each current folder to each new folder? What is the best way to approach finding difference knowing you are making the correct changes? I assume you are making changes to the new version and not making the old version equal to the new? Is there any special setup to program that will aid in using with ZenCart?
For many of us who don't work with these files on a daily bases it gets to be overwhelming. If someone would shed light on the above I know it will help many other than just me.
Thanks – Larry
