Default Current template has FEC built in ...

We've been trying to get a carbon copy test site to succesfully upgrade from 1.3.8a before performing the upgrade on a live site and are experiencing a number of difficulties. The latest one is that the create account page does not load correctly when our current template is selected.

From what I can see the current template has FEC built into it which modifies the create account page substantially and I suspect that this the issue. Has anyone out there successfully implemented FEC into the new 1.3.9 structure ?

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I have the FEC installed on 1.39, you just need to carefully merge the modified files from FEC with the files from 1.39. There's no easy way.

    Thanks for the reply.

Problem I have is that the template author has FEC installed within the template and there is no base template without the FEC to compare it with. Template author has made amendments to a 1.3.8a fileset which has to be integrated with a 1.3.9f fileset. I'm not sure if the changes we come across are changes fromthe FEC install or the 1.3.9 upgrade so it's very messy.

So just use the original 1.3.8 Zen Cart files as your base to find out what needs merging.

I hear you Dr Byte but my problem is that when I compare my current 1.3.8 based site to a default 1.3.8 I find a couple of hundred lines of extra code in the create account file. Trying to figure out are they there as a result of FEC or a template modification is the difficult part.

Considering that this page breaks the cart when the template is activated in 1.3.9 tells me that there have been modifications made to the account creation page(s) from 1.3.8 which brings me back to a triple question of what was originally modified by the templates inclusion of FEC, what was modified by the template itself and then what was modified by the upgraded zencart. Merging the three of these is where the difficulty lies. I see there has been an upgrade to FEC for 1.3.9 - I think I need to go through the changes from both FECs too and see if I can iron out the differences.

And, a quick compare of original 1.3.8 vs original 1.3.9 may reveal the simplicity of the needed changes too. There weren't many template changes ... we tried to keep those to as few as possible.

Have you compared your version of create account to the FEC for Zen Cart 1.3.9 module version?

I would think if you just upgrade your FEC files it would work.
