free shipping option amount bug?

version: 1.3.9f of new installation, not addon installed.

problems found from localhost testing.

Once I setup the free shipping option to >100 ,so when customer purchase more than this total amount , the free shipping option show up, together with other shipping method. Because I also setup the flat shipping and free shipping. Later on I changed the amount to 200 but seems the system was still keep the previous amount 100. No matter how many times I tried even then uninstall the free shipping option model and free shipping model. It still show up ' Free shipping for orders over 100 ' if I purchase total amount more than 100.

There is some other unexpected place where you can set free shipping for over $xx. I had to search a long time to (re)find it when I had problems, but can't remember now just where it was. It can override the settings in the logical places, though.

Admin > Modules > Order Total > Shipping:

Allow Free Shipping
Do you want to allow free shipping?

Free Shipping For Orders Over
Provide free shipping for orders over the set amount.


Provide Free Shipping For Orders Made
Provide free shipping for orders sent to the set destination.

Thanks so much. You really saved me plenty of time and headaches.

But just be curious why zencart has more than one place to setup the same function, which in the end make users confused and problems as well.

Zen Cart started from osCommerce and was built over several years, with a lot of improved bits added without necessarily removing the original versions of those functions. The developers are working now on a major overhaul of the front end and underlying structure, rewriting much of the code to be more consistent and follow current standards. The admin will be completely rewritten in an upcoming version.
