Admin login blank - server error 500 upgrading ...f to g

Upgrading 1.3.9f to 1.3.9g. Site appears to work fine (haven't checked more than the welcome page) but when I go to the admin login, I only see a blank white page. Server log indicates an error 500.

I've verified both configure.php files. Works OK on my winxp development system (able to log into admin), but not on my ISP's server (blank page). I updated / added / deleted / merged all files in the changelog.

I've cleared browser cache and cookies - and verified on chrome and firefox. I have no SEO addons, although I do have google analytics, but I don't think this affects the admin pages. I even tried the suggestion of reversing the changes to html_output.php but this didn't do anything. Eventually I reverted to my version prior to the 1.3.9g upgrades using SVN.

Any guidance in figuring this out would be appreciated. I'd like to keep with the latest version.

What does the server's apache error log say as the cause of the "500" error?
Is it possible you had any incomplete FTP uploads?

Found it - from another of your posts, guiding to the Debug Error logs that are now built in to 1.3.9x.

I forgot to tell SVN that there were additional files to add to the repository. I'm all set now.

So, in layman's terms for those who don't know (or need to know) what "SVN" is, the problem was missing files from the server/upload.
