"– " in place of "-"

I am beginning the process of upgrading from 1.38a to 1.39g. Don't have a lot of time to do this all at once so I expect to be taking some time and will likely also eventually use this opportunity to make changes to my website in other ways.

So what I decided to do was to initially just upload and install 1.39g in a temp directory....and add my old database to that so that I can essentally build from that point. That all went well and I upgraded the database to version 1.39g using the patch tool in the zc_install system.

One odd thing has cropped up. In the description of my products as shown in the admin section everything looks fine. However, if I go to the actual website, wherever there is a "-", instead of that showing it shows: "– " instead.

Specifically for example:

Here is what it looks like in admin: John - Mary
Here is what it looks like in the website: John – Mary

Any ideas what is happening and what can be done about it?

Oh and this happens in both IE and Firefox.

I found a work around. Using Easy Populate, I downloaded all my products from my current site and then uploaded them directly to the new site. That did the trick of changing "– back to "-" for all of the products in my 1.39g test site.
