Can I add Zen Cart to existing website?

Hey everyone

I thought that I would better ask before my last hair will turn gray...

I am building a website where I will be selling 50+ products. And I already have a webhost with SSL.

My question is if Zen Cart can be integrated in an already existing wesite and if so. Is there any places where I can read some info about it and maybe a tutorial before I just head first. I have search the forum and the FAQ, but dident find what I was looking for.

If Zen Cart can be integrated can I have swedish kr as a curency?

Can I change the text & pictures so that everything on the website is in swedish? (Dont care about back office stuff, can be in english)



If Zen Cart cant be integrated is there any other cart that can be?

Any help is very appreciated

Yes. You can put ZC in a folder called "shop" or "store" or whatever a store is called in Swedish.

Re: Text. yes, you can change whatever you want in Language files.

Re: pics. Web is non discriminatory to pics. so no worries there : )

A ZC pro should confirm about changing the text to Swedish. but i am 99% sure you will be fine.

If by "integration" you mean using your current, probably html pages to sell and having ZenCart do the processing then NO
If you mean make ZenCart look like your current site and then replace the current site - then YES

ZenCart is intended to become your web site and not to be used in pieces as in buy now, shipping, transaction processing stc.

Yes and euros or any other you want in addition

I don;t know about pictures, I did not know they were language specific.

But Yes as long as you a fluent in the language to be able to enter the product description text in that language and several other textual edits

Technically, you were not wrong
It can reside anywhere that is web accessible
For security issues, session control must be maintained, and why it can not be used in pieces

It was things like this I could not figure out on my own reading about it ;)

I actually would prefere to have a shopping cart where I can add snippets of code to my html code.

In this way I am in full controle and can change and edit the page any way I want and I am not depending on some form of editor. They always produce alot of crap and I cant change it anymore cause its to complex.

If I cant find what I am looking for I will go for ZC, but is there any alternative that I can try that will integrate snippets of code in to an existing html page?

There is a text editor in the admin - no WYSIWYG - no bloated code -
Just what you enter for that piece of a page
Remember, different than you are accustomed to, you do not create a page, only the pieces.

If you have used SSI for your html php is very similar

While you look, I would install a copy and begin learning about the pieces

From what I can make out from you last reply. Is that I can edit and control parts of the code, but I can not controll the entire page.

When it comes to SEO there are alot of things that you want to be able to have total controle over. And one of the things that many shoping cart dont let you do is to make a static url that you can deside. And that one of the things that are important in SEO.

I am thinking that if I have a solution like ZC I wont be able to rank as well in the Search engines cause I can not controll all the variables as well as if I hade a shopping cart were I just insert code in to my own html page.

The search goes on....

When it comes to SEO there are alot of things that you want to be able to have total controle over. And one of the things that many shoping cart dont let you do is to make a static url that you can deside. And that one of the things that are important in SEO.

That is only what the persons selling that snake oil will state
Was the case years ago - but not so much anymore
Content is the measure more and more
Was too much abuse/SPAMMING of keywords going on so the SE's have changed

ZenCart's rank very well with good content

But proceed as you wish

Oh well.

We will see what will happen. I have found out that my webhost has ZC as a "one click" install.

And I have found that Mals ecommerce seams to be the best option to integrate in to my site. But they send the user over to there site, (wich I can have custome made) seams like everything has its drawback.

I will try both options and see what I think about them.
