Missing catagory after creation

So, I have been hacked, and that si the indicator.
I guess I cant trust anything on the site now and have to do the reinstall and move forward from there, huh?

PS: Wouldn't there be any indicator that the site was hacked?
I have it locked down, long, complex password, and everything else that the directions tell me to do when starting with ZC.

Either coincidence or this has something to do with the issue I am having.
The date on the c99 file is yesterday, when this disappearing category matter started.
I deleted the category, changed the passwords and everything else.
Could you recommend the next step?

What version are you running?
If not the latest better upgrade
As you have been hcked best to consider that you are now compromised and removing only what you found is not sufficient
Follow ALL steps

Zen Cart: v1.3.9b (Clean install, no upgrade, only template added.)

I guess i have to ask, do I start with the link you just provided, and then move to the upgrade, or do the upgrade and then follow the hacking link?

(Sorry, very new ot all of this.)

All night, all day and I can not seem to get a handle on this entire thing.
I simply cannot throw in the towel, this is my income, as pitiful the sum in may be, but nonetheless, it is all I have right now.
I don't have the cash to pay someone to do this for me, and i am in way over my head.
