when you enter http://store.inspiritcommon.com/index.html it will, but if you just enter http://store.inspiritcommon.com/ it displays the zen cart error page.

Create a new db with user
Preserve your configure files
upload the zc_install folder if does not exist
run the install providing the new DB details

Should be successful

Then edit the created configures with DB Details from your preserved copies

Also compare what the install used for other entries

you're saying do a fresh install of zencart? ohmigoodness my files are not ready for that. i fear that my customizations are all over the place, as i grasped the override thing a little late in my process. i was going to wrangle them all together when i got to upgrade 1.3.9, but i really wanted my shop live before i did that. i'm so close!

when you say create a new database with user, do you mean scrap my current database? that's terrifying.

just as a side note, my admin area is working find under the new subdomain. at least something is right. *sigh*

paralyzed by the fear of reinstall, and fueled by the time crunch that is the elusive toddler nap, i finally figured out what was causing my storefront to hide... it was *drumroll* permissions! my config php file was changing on my local server, but hadn't budged on the remote sercer.

kobra, thanks for coaching me through this. at least now i can get the ssl pointed to the subdomain and start taking real credit cards. i've set up a new development subdomain on my server and hope to get 1.3.9 installed and all of my customizations wrangled into the proper files for the override system.
