Default Download Link Goes to 403 Not Found?

I'm on version 1.3.9g - clean install not an upgrade

Have tried this with Firefox 3.6.10, Opera 10.63 and IE 8.0.7.7600.16385

I have managed to set up downloads via the attribute tutorial. It seems to work fine until I click on the download link.

    This is what gets generated:

    http://store.blackthornegroup.ca/ind...d&order=3&id=3

But this is the error I get back in the browser.

HTTP 403 - The Default index.html file could not be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

There isn't an index.html in the root of my install, but there isn't one in any of our other stores either?

    Any help appreciated!

HTTP "403" means "forbidden", not "Not found" (404 means "not found").

Thus, it suggests that the filetype (extension) you're trying to download is being blocked because it's uncommon.
What's the name of the file you're trying to download?

At first it was an flv file. But I have subsequently deleted those attributes and recreated pointing to the test.zip file.

I am going to open a ticket with my host and ask about the misleading text after the 403 code that leads it to look like a 404 code.

Any other ideas? I have walked through the setup 4 times now, making sure not to miss anything.

I followed some other options here on streaming the file and that seems to be working (and just as safe).

My host has yet to confirm redirect download links are forbidden but from all the posts here it seem like the most likely answer to the problem. I will update once they confirm.
