Default Is Zencart the best option for my new informational site?

Hi, I am starting a new informational site which would focus on articles. however in the future i would like to add products.

I am unsure what i should power my website with. i am thinking of going with something like this template.
    templateworld.com/templates-142b-2944.html

Do you think i would be able to add products to that in the future? say have a Products tab. then categroies. I don't want the traditional zencart template which the products on the side of the website, because i want it to be based on information. Could i do this with zencart? I want to be able to edit my site through a backend like zencart or wordpress.

What do you think my best option is?

    Thanks :)

That template is not a ZenCart template...
ZenCart can be a light weight CMS using ezpages
    Side boxes can be eliminated
A drop menu can be added

Really depands upon what your essential goals are...

    Can commenting features be added?

Could i move the category box to the navigation bar and have it as a drop down menu?

Have you checked the templates available for Zen Cart at http://(sorry, site offline)/? You might find something similar there which would give you a better starting point.

In order to use the template you mentioned, you'd basically have to adapt it to Zen Cart which would pretty much require rewriting the template.

I'm using Zen Cart as CMS for my nephew's site (see my sig for link). Some elements are EZ-pages. Others are Document General (like the articles under Published Work).

You can always modify the templates to suit your needs. It would probably be easier than trying to modify the template you mentioned earlier.

Alternately, you could check out Joomla. I was toying with it, but haven't had time to get very far. I believe they have an e-commerce addon of some sort.

WordPress would certainly be the fastest way to get started. Not ideal if long term the key part of your site is a shopping cart but it does have shopping capabilities. Take a look at WP e-Commerce:
