    Default changes after upgrading

    Hi to all you experienced Zen upgraders.

    I have just upgraded again and have pulled what is left of my hair out by the roots because of what must be a problem everyone else who has a site for some time and which they have fixed.

    The problem is one of resetting the pages to the default messages like "congratulations message" and "welcome message" and overwriting the defined pages full of existing content of terms and shipping policies etc.

    I cannot think that this is how ZEN cart is supposed to work as it seems to push you right back to the beginning each time you upgrade.

    Someone somewhere must have a clue on how to avoid having to spend half a day resetting everything.

    Please can someone give me a clue on how to preserve my amendments when upgrading.

    What versions are you upgrading from and to ?

    Upgrading from 1.3.9x to a newer 1.3 9 version is just a matter of copying some files from the new distribution to your server.

    It sounds like you're re-installing all the Zencart files each time you upgrade, and that you're using the Classic template. The files you mentioned will be overwritten in the classic folders on re-installation.

    This is the reason for creating your own custom template. If you have, you need to create a folder includes/languages/english/html_includes/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME and place your edited copies of the define pages there. That way, they won't be overwritten.

    Same goes for the other changes you mentioned.
