Default Filtering Searches Returns to Advanced Search - There is no product that matches page

On all three of my sites when you use the search box you'll be presented with the search results. For example, go to www.silkblooms.co.uk and search the term, 'red roses'.

When the search results appear, you'll see there's a drop down menu just above the results that's supposed to filter the items on the page by price, date added, etc. However, using this drop down filter just takes you to the main_page=advanced_search page.

Is there a reason this filter isn't able to filter search results?

The filter works on all normal pages, just not search results. So, I'd be quite happy to place a #dropDown {display:none} in my advanced_search.css but I've examined it in Friebug and it doesn't seem to have a class so I can't even do that.

    Any help appreciated.

A fresh clean uncustomized install of Zen Cart doesn't have price/date filters on search results. It has alpha filters only.

Must be something wrong with your customized page code.

Yes, you're definitely right about that. So, I'd be happy to place a #dropDown {display:none} in my advanced_search.css but I've examined it in Friebug and it doesn't seem to have a class so I can't even do that. I guess I'll have to dig through the code and try to assign one so I can hide it via a custom .css file.
