Products display in more than one column

I have looked on the forum, found similar threads but still can't find the answer for my problem... I have products displayed this way:

But I would like it to be displayed this way:

I would like to ask if it is possible to do so or it will require a major rebuild? And where (which files) can I change "Filter Results by " to the price desc instead of name starting with a...Z?

I just installed Column Layout Grid for Product Listing but it did not help at all

Also wanted to ask why is there for the 1 product listed quantity box and add to cart button,but for the 2 only link "more info"?

Column Layout Grid is the way to get the layout you want. You will also have to turn off the elements you don't want (everything but the image) in Configuration > Product Listing.
It would be easier to answer your questions if we could see your site live.
