Default Best approach for site move+upgrade?

    Hello
I need to move my site to another domain.
im currently Zen Cart v1.3.8a, so i would like to upgrade for the new domain.
Having read through the upgrade guide, i cant believe how difficult it is, picking over the code looking for changes.

Would it work if i installed the latest Zen on my new domain, then
    carried out this...

to move over my old database and files?

Or am i heading down a dead end?

    Thanks everyone!

There are really no short cuts
BUT if you have used the override system correctly
It is only these files that need to be comared against the change log to see if there is a new version and out of those files usually there are only a few that require merging your customization into the new file

Do you mean i must do the upgrade on my old site first - before the move?
Re. the 'override system' don't think i'm using it correctly as its the first time i've heard of it!

Not suggested to perform this on your live working site
Follow the steps in the tutorial and create another install with another DB

Not good as it is part and partial to making an upgrade as painless as possible

    So its...

    1. Install new zen, another install with another DB, on old domain.

    2. Test and then go 'live' with new version.

    3. Then move everrthing over to my new domain.

    phew

    For TESTING your upgrade, yes.

Remember, "go live" means to redo the upgrade ON your live site AFTER first doing a full upgrade test on your test site, in your #1 step above.
After going live, you DELETE the temporary test folder and database.

Correct. AFTER the upgrade is fully done and tested and working on the old site, move it over to the new site, as per the instructions: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=100
