HTML tags in Define Pages Editor

I am using the HTML editor in the Define Pages Editor to add a few items to my homepage, they do exactly what I want them to when I view it through the define pages editor. However, when I pull up the webpage in a browser I see all the html tags.

I have designed sites on and off for years and like to think of myself as not an idiot, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong and I know I am going to feel stupid when I get it figured out.

After reading another post decided to add that I am using 1.3.9h and it was a fresh install.

Ok well I had reopened it to see if I had screwed anything up, didn't find anything so I didnt change anything. Saved it and have no idea why but it works fine now.
