    Default Email Welcome - use customer's first name only

    Hi there

    I have had a rather disastrous play around with the createaccount.php file to try and change the Welcome Email to only use the customer's first name. I'm sure this is something simple but I don't know enough to figure it out. Here's the code I need to change:

    // greeting salutation
    define('EMAIL_SUBJECT', 'Welcome to Kodomo');
    define('EMAIL_GREET_MR', 'Dear Mr. %s,' . "\n\n");
    define('EMAIL_GREET_MS', 'Dear Ms. %s,' . "\n\n");
    define('EMAIL_GREET_NONE', 'Dear %s' . "\n\n");

    Can anyone help? TIA

    You'll have to hack apart the code in the create_account.php file so that it uses completely different details when sending, and then you'll have to alter your language files to remove the Mr or Ms etc

    Thanks for the reponse, DrByte. If I read between the lines I think you're saying that I should just stick with the default setup! Will do for now.

    You could alternatively disable the Gender selection in Admin->Configuration->Customer Details, and then it won't use Mr/Ms as the greeting.

    Thanks again, DrByte. Turning off gender selection wasn't exactly what I wanted to do but I think it is a good workaround.
