Cart Price doubles on Checkout

Hi just doing final testing on new site using Zen-Cart v1.3.9f.

Evertthing goes fine until I get to checkout, when the orice of the cart contents double!

The VAT calculates ok on the doubled price and shipping cost ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

How strange. Sorry, I've no idea what could possibly cause this, but I'd be taking a look at your /modules/order_totals as a first step to see if there is anything 'obvious' amiss there.. After that, well, I wouldn't have a clue.... A real mystery :)

thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately having done a file comparison with the original instal files couldn't find any errors.

Is there anywhere else where this calculation's perfomed?

The thing here is, you probably aren't actually looking for an 'error' as such. You will probably/possibly be looking for additional files or something similar, so comparing file contents won't reveal anything amiss. Try comparing directory contents... ... I'm REALLY clutching at straws here though

Not that I'm aware of.. This isn't an area of my expertise - I do know that if you/we can attact DrB's or Ajeh's attention on this one they may have better ideas ...

This *isn't* one of the 'normal' problems that people experience, and it was different enough to attract my interest, so hopefully it'll pique their curiousity too.

Without studying the problem with any real details, my gut hunch is that you've got duplicates of some files (or segments of code) on your server for some reason. A common bad practice that people use is to rename files "for backup purposes" but erroneously keep the ".php" extension on the filename. ie: name a file "header_php-old.php" instead of just calling it "header_php.old". If there are multiple .php files of similar names in various folders, ALL those files will often be loaded ... causing duplication of certain functionality.

So, redo your comparison, and remove any "extra" files which shouldn't be present on the server.

finally resolved the problem. I had installed a beta version of a VAT module (that I've used before). This involved adding some sections to the classes/order.php file. I had added in a section but failed to comment out the section it replaced, thereby duplicating it.

Hence the problem.
