Customer Referral Tracking discount for the Referee

I've been searching for a while, but cannot find anything on this subject.

I basically need to automatically create and assign a discount coupon to registered customers, when people they have refered to our site make their first purchase.

Is there anything like that out in the mods? (I couldn't find it)

Has anyone done something like this? Can I get any advice on how to approach this?

So, you have some sort of referral system that automatically matches up new customers to old customers? and you want Zen Cart to find that magical match somewhere and give the old customer a coupon?
