Global pricing for all products

Hello all,

New here. I have looked (and looked and looked!) for the answer to this but I cannot find it.

We sell photographs. These come in different sizes (postcard, A4, A3 etc). We want to sell all of our photographs at ONE price per size.

1/ Is there a way I can set the price for each size so whenever I add a new photograph it will automatically have the correct price? Or do I have to add the size and price to each product?

2/ If I can do 1/ above, it is possible to add a certain product which can opt out of this global pricing structure? Maybe a very special photo which we want to sell at a different price?

1.3.8a straight out of the box, no changes or add-on. Yes I know it needs upgrading but that's how I downloaded it.

You would usually use attributes for the various sizes, and, once you set up the attributes and prices, you can apply them globally to any or all products in the Attributes Controller.

If you haven't got too far with your customization, I would strongly recommend you start over with the current Zencart version. Much easier than upgrading down the road.

The exact answer depends on how you have your products organized.
Are all of one size/type in the same category?
Are the products priced by attribute, with choices for size on the product info page? (I have just gone through updating my priced-by-attribute product prices globally, with different increments for different attributes.)

I not really sure about the best way to go forward but I do want to make it as easy as possible as we have thousands of photos to upload to the shop.

Unless Glenn has a better idea, I would use attributes for the various sizes and price them by attribute. Then you can apply the attributes to all the images (and future images) at once, since all are the same price.

Yes, that's the way I would do it. Make sure the base product price is 0, so the attributes have a clear field to work in. You would want to make the attribute price prefix default to blank instead of +.
