UPS module not able to obtain a rate quote for a large order

The products with a shipment of 50 lbs or less are fine. The UPS module works fine, but when someone would try to purchase something with the weight of 495 pounds, I get a message that says:

"We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping.
Please contact the store if no other alternative is shown."

Is there a way to raise the limit on how large a shipment can be for this UPS module? Thanks in advance.

What do you have set for your Shipping/Packaging settings on Maximum Weight and Tare Rates?

Max Package Weight I have at 500

Package Tare I have at 0:3

Let me know how I can get the big shipments working with the UPS module. Thanks in advance.

Try setting the Maximum Weight to something UPS will send such as 70 ...

Note: you are adding an additional 3lbs to all orders with the Tare setting you are using ...

Very nice. It worked. Does it sound correct to you that a 495 pounds shipment should cost $201.20 ground shipment?


I don't understand what the Max Weight option is for then. How come it can read a package at 495 pounds when set to a max of 70 but not a 495 pound package set at a max of 500?

Go to the UPS site and test what you want to ship ...

The Maximum Weight divides the total weight of the order into smaller chunks for quotes ...

UPS will only quote for so much weight per box ...

You will have to experiment with the weights for the best solution for you ...
