Cannot add options

Hi guys,

Please can someone help me regain my sanity?

Ive tried everything to make a simple colour dropdown for all of my products and it will not work at all.

I can make a value called 'colour' but then I cannot add any values to it. As soon as I try, the admin side just goes back to the main admin index page and my changes werent saved.

Ive even in desperation manually put one in the database but it wont let me add this to a product at all.

I only want to add, black, green and red colour options to every product in my shop and its doign my nut in!

What version of Zencart?

Just to make sure we're on the same page, you would go to the Attributes Controller, click on Option Names and create your Colour name there, selecting dropdown as the type.

Then click on Option Values and create your color options, selecting Colour from the drop down on the left for each.

Then you can add them to each product, or globally.

Sorry, I should have said, Im using 1.3.9h, I believ thats the latest version. Ive done this before on a diofferent cart and not had any trouble, Im doing what I think I should be and yes, like you said but it just refuses to play, what am I missing?

Do you mean you created an option NAME called "colour". Option VALUES are added AFTER you have created the option NAME.

This is what Ive done:

1. Admin > Catalogue > Option Name Manager
2. Type 'Colour' Select 'Drop down' then press 'insert'

As soon as I do that, the admin page goes back to the front screen and does NOT save the new drop down.

Then you probably have corrupted code / corrupted files .

(It is unlikely to be a database problem because you said you were able to add the option to the database manually - I assume via phpMyAdmin).

If your installation is NEW, and you don't have modules that over-wrote any core ADMIN files, then you could try re-loading the entire admin folder.

Before you do this, make a BACKUP of the existing admin folder, and in particular, make sure you have a backup of:

admin/includes/configure.php

The only thing which Ive done is upgrade the installed version from f to h but Im sure I did everything it said in the instructions. It lets me create the 'colour' or 'fabric' etc drop down but it wont let me put values in, it just goes back tot he main screen when I do that. There must be something simple Im missing, I dont really want to upload it all again, Im guessing its something int he upgrade?

What PROCEDURE did you use to do the upgrade from f to h ?

The one in the docs of the new version, it says to upgrade find and replace the files which ahve changed etc

As schoolboy suggested, you probably have one or more corrupted files.

If you haven't installed a lot of admin-related mods, I would just re-upload all the admin files from the 1.3.9h files, overwriting what's there.
