    Hi

    The reason being when I try to validate my web site with search engines submission I get this error message:

    Your homepage HTML is invalid!

    1 errors were found.
    Line Error Message
    184 end tag for element "a" which is not open

    View full validation report

    Hence my query.

    Cheers

    That error is telling you that you have an extra "</a>" somewhere that you need to eliminate.

    You could have triggered this error not in the index.php, but some other files you edited, such as tpl_header, footer... etc.

    Make sure all your opened tags are closed.

    You need to load your website, then look at the GENERATED HTML. Then look at line 184 of that HTML.

    That will show you the broken href.

    when you know what is broken, you can call up the file that generated that piece of html.

    index.php is NOT at fault... some other file is at fault - probably one that is manually edited such as an EZPage or a DEFINED PAGE.

    Do NOT mess about with index.php ... it has nothing to do with the problem you are experiencing.

    I am having a similar problem when I run the html validation. The following are a couple of the many error messages I get:

    Validation Output: 45 Errors

    1. Error Line 20, Column 79: document type does not allow element "script" here; assuming missing "body" start-tag

    <script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript">

    2. Error Line 28, Column 25: document type does not allow element "body" here

    <body id="indexHomeBody">
    I am not sure where to look for these things to fix it. My site seems to be working fine though....its just the validation errors. Anyone know how I can fix this?

    I am using ZC 1.3.7
    my site = http://monumentsplus.com
