Can't get past "database setup" page to install

Hi All
Complete newbie and having trouble with the initial setup. I've created my SQL database, and noted the login details, etc. But I cannot get past the "database setup" page.
It keeps coming up with "Access denied for user 'bpbp1270_bpm'@'localhost' to database 'bpbp1270_bpmstore'". I've tried both "localhost" and another possible host name given by my web hoster but that comes up with a definite host error, so assuming it has something to do with the login details but i wrote them down when I created it and cannot see where it's going wrong.
Has anyone else had this issue before? Any ideas? I've been sitting here for 2 hours now and no idea...

If you're on shared hosting, it's possible that your hosting configuration prepends your control panel user name to the DB name, so if you created a database named zencart and your user name is foobar, Zencart will need foobar_zencart in the DB name field.

When you created the database did you also create a MySQL User Name and Password AND assign them to that database?
