Add Picture to Main Page Text

I'm using V1.3.9c

I have text on my main page that I change frequently. I want to add a picture in the text for more interest. I am working in HTML. When I click on insert image a box comes up requesting the URL - at this point the pictures are on my computer. Where do I upload the pictures to in order to obtain a URL ?

You would upload them to wherever you want Zencart to find them, then specify that URL. I place most custom (non-product) images in includes/templates/MY_TEMPLATE_NAME/images.

Or you can create a dir inside of your /images dir as
/images/site/

Now when asked for the image url just use
/images/site/your_image.xxx

I've done this by adding a separate directory inside the normal images directory, as kobra suggests.

I have a lot of products that are better with images embedded, to aid the description whilst also making it more interesting for the site user. To save that extra images directory getting too full, I will categorise the extra images in their own directories by product types. This will also aid me finding/replacing them should the need ever arise to update them and also keep the site structure neat and tidy.

Just add the directory locally, then add the photos locally, then FTP the whole directory with which ever program you normally use, like FileZiller for example. The new directory will be created for you at your site by the FTP program and also be populated as you upload them.

I find this also helps as I am a member on some product specific forums, so I can link the photos/pics directly rather than particularly linking the product itself

Thank you everyone for your help - I really appreciate it. Unfortunately my site in on my webmaster's server and I don't currently have access to it.

I have forwarded all your suggestions to him and maybe he can create the directory and give me access to just that directory on his server (I do already have access to the server to do backups) so that I can upload the pictures.

It is very easy to create a FTP login for you, restricting you to your own installation of zencart, as the entire installation will be sitting in ONE dedicated directory. So your developer should just create a FTP account for you, and limit your access to that directory.

Then, you can FTP to your heart's content...
