Site not giving order number or showing orders after payment

Hopefully someone else has seen this before:

I'm using v1.3.9h and using paypal website payment standard - IPN for payment.

The problem I'm having is that customers can make payment for their item successfully via Paypal (which is added to my pp account), but when they are redirected back to my site the success page is not showing an order number.

The admin area also does not show any orders either.

I've checked I've placed the correct URLs in the IPN and website payment preferences and they're ok. I've also run the ipnchecker in the extras folder and that's ok too.

The paypal account is not yet verified - is this going to be causing the issue?

any ideas much appreciated.....

Try uninstalling Standard and use Express instead, and see if the problems go away. There's no reason I'm aware of to use Paypal Standard any more.

Thanks for your advice, I switched over to express checkout which has come with it's own set of problems.

I'm now getting the error message:

An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (7) Failed to connect to 66.211.168.126: Permission denied

From having a look around I think this is more of a web hosting/server issue that a Zen Cart one. I'll check with the server admin and go from there .....unless it's not a server issue when further advice would be much appreciated!

Why is that? Can you please explain. You mean Paypal Express can accept credit cards from customers who do not have a PayPal account? I've only always used PayPal standard.
