    Default .htaccess issues

Hi ti all! I am installing Zen and I am a novice so forgive my ignorance...I am installing v1.3.9H
All files are uploaded and the installation started properly.
Files have been renamed as per the instructions on the INSTALL guide.

The SYSTEM INSPECTION shows that 'register globals' and 'php sessions.use trans_sid are both ON and is requesting that I turn them OFF.

Problem is, I cannot get access to the .htaccess file. The file is not allowing me access. I have contacted my host (domain.com) and requested they either allow me access or make the requested changes for me.

The existing .htaccess file is sitting in the same directory as the folders: httpdocs, httpsdocs, certs, cgi-bin, webapps etc.
I will be getting an SSL for this site.

Is this .htaccess file sitting in the correct place for Zen Cart if & when the modifications are made? I created another .htacess file with the suggested changes above (as per the install guide) and placed it in the httpdocs directory, but Zen inspection either did not see it or did not like it.

Any guidance here is greatly appreciated!

The .htaccess file you need to create will need to go inside the httpdocs folder, but whether or not you can use .htaccess to turn off Register Globals and sessions.use trans_sid will depend upon what the hosts allows to be modified via .htaccess.

If it's not allowed then you'll need to ask the host for a copy of the servers' php.ini file so that you can upload a modified copy to the httpdocs folder and the Zen Cart 'admin' folder. If you set up your own php.ini file with just those changes in it then you will lose all other security settings in the server-wide php.ini file.

You are also going to have problems with SSL, because the host you are with uses the outdated two-folder method, one for httpdocs and another for httpsdocs. Unless you can get your hosts to Sym Link those two folders then you are going to have to replicate everything in the httpdocs folder in the httpsdocs folder, and when you change/modify files you'll have to remember to change them in both folders.

    WOW!
Thank you for the reply but the news is definitely not good.
So, I find that I am accidentally with the wrong host [domain.com] and I suppose I should be thinking about where to move my web site that has a more e-commerce-friendly environment.

Any suggestions...because I do not believe that my host will do what is asked and it seems a bit convoluted to replicate files in both httpdocs & httpsdocs to make up for what is lacking in the host system. The SSL is important so that cannot be compromised.

We're not allowed to recommend individual hosts on the forums, but you can take a look at the Certified Hosts page at this address:
