Default Want the Login link in header to take customer to Secure Login page

I know to edit the includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_header.php

I just don't know how to change it. When a customer clicks the "login" link at the top of the page, I want them routed to the "https://mysitelogin.blahblah" not "http://mysitelogin.blahblah". can this be done?
and if it can, can I change the "login" to "secure login"?

I followed the tutorial to the letter and when you click to login, it still takes you the the http:// addy and not the https:// addy. I just want the login/register page and checkout pages secure. I must be doing something totally wrong. I know it is simple as black and white but I am not seeing it.

I figured it out. I only want the login and checkout pages using SSL and I altered the header_php with a work-around to allow the customer to just go to the secure login page. now to make sure the checkout page is secure as well. thanks. this is resolved as far as i am concerned...

You must have some very odd links in your custom template code then ... because if your template is written properly then all the links that need SSL will automatically use it appropriately.
