Add a product to be listed in several categories

I am new to Zen Cart and am just now setting up my site. I am trying to avoid mistakes that will make updating my store more difficult later.

I sell software for handheld computers. The logical "Categories" are the different types of platforms such as iPhone, Palm Classic, Windows Mobile, Android, etc.

Some of the software is device specific…meaning that it will only work on one handheld type. Other products will work on all handheld types.

Is there a way to "share" a product between two or more categories so that I do not need to enter the product information more than once so that it is listed under the appropriate "Category(s)"?

The purpose of having the device type listed as a category is so that the customer can easily find what programs will work for the customer.

It looks like if I have 9 different categories of handheld computers listed, then if a product will work on all 9 types, I would have to list the same product 9 different times.

How can I enter a product once and have it listed under all 9 separate categories?

Hi Linda,

Create your product in what you'd think of as a "main" category and then click the blue "C" on the right of the product listing, then instead of "Duplicating" choose "Link" and you'll be able to link that product to as many categories as you'd like without creating duplicate product listings. You'll see the drop down for choosing the category to link to.
