Advice on how to set up product with attributes?

Hey Guys I am using the latest version of zencart and I am working on a site for a client. My client is selling Index Tabs and they offer a price break if a person buys a certain number of cartons. Right now I have it set up as 1 product with attributes which consist of Carton quantity, Collated choice, and Holes. The price changes when a client selects quantity. The problem I am having is that since I set up the product as 1 product with attributes when someone adds any quantity and adds it to the shopping cart the shopping cart quantity box on the left always shows 1. The client would like the shopping cart contents reflect the quantity that the customer selects from the drop down menu. I would set up the products without the quantity box but the problem is that my client has discounted pricing by the amount of products the customer buys. For example if someone buys 1 carton they may pay $1.00 a piece but if they buy say 10 cartons they may get a 40 cent discount on each. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to set this up so that the quantities in the shopping cart are correct? Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Try adding that to the cart and you will see the quantity is always 1. Thanks.

Although I am not a programmer just a user, my advice is probably not to set it up this way.

There is a mod for price/quantity break -

it might be a much simpler solution.
