Wholesale shop login to show everything

Hi

I have built a wholesale website and have been asked is it possible to hide all of the products, categories and prices etc until a customer is logged in.
My customer feels that having a .htaccess file password protect the shop and customers needing to login is more confusing user names and passwords then he would like.

Ideally I would like Zen Cart by default to load the login screen and only let customers browse the shop once they are logged in.
Is this at all possible and how many files would need editing to allow this.

Any other suggestions to achieve the same goal would be appreciated.

Is it possible to enable the wholesale customer in User side?

Shop status and customer approval are two separate items.
Just below status in the menu is the approval setting.
You'll need to adjust the two to fit your needs, but there is no way to change a customer's status outside the admin area other than a direct database change.

As an addition to my last post
Customers are by invitation only no competitors can get in "unless we accept the registration", to see what we have on offer. Was going to use no price see all products setting but have been bitten by the look at this guy bug, ideas and products started to end up on other competing ecommerce websites and ebay.
We do not use the best sellers option on the front page of our other website for the same reason

Dave - I'm using ZC1.3.9h. I'm about to set up a wholesale-only site, and this is exactly what I'm looking for! Was this done simply with the settings in the admin panel, as suggested in the previous posts, or have you done something special here?

Left out part of the request - would also like to add "State Sales Tax Permit Number" under Company Name in the Company Details box - where do I do that?
