using dropdown listbox to create product

so. here is what i would like to do.

i would like to use dropdown listboxes 3 or 4 of them to create an item. ( ie listbox1, choice 1, listbox2, choice 2, listbox3, choice 4 = returns item#124 or by text=mens, large, bule)

i get that it is possible, i have seen it on other zen-cart sites.

where might i find the correct information to do this? i have searched to forums but no exact info was found.
