I thought I had read something about this before, but now I can't find anything. I assigned an image to a category and now I'd rather it just have none. How can I take it off?

Type the word none in the category images "browse" box.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.
If you write 'none' in the Category Image browse box, you can't save the page because 'none' is an invalid file name for the browse input field and the 'save' button won't work.
There is an oddity with XP and Internet Explorer on the setting images to: none
It does not happen on Win2K nor in FireFox from what I have seen ...
Until this is re-written to work with the new quirks in IE, you might see if FireFox works for you on removing images with: none

Huh. I use Firefox exclusively, and I can't find a none: option at all (certainly I'd have spotted it and tried it if it had been there)... I wonder what's screwy?

No what they mean is to type 'none' in the browse box. I needed to do the same, and did this in IE6 and nothing happened. It worked in Firefox.

I tried this 'none' on Firefox and IE (Windows XP), + Firefox on a Mac but had no success, but then I do have ImageHandler installed as well.
whoops - I mean i tried this with a product not a catagory, me sorry.

I also tried this for products:
none in IE6 didn't do anything - clicking on Save didn't even acknowledge an error
none in Firefox worked
Weird. I don't remember now, but I had switched to using IE on the Admin page because there was something that wouldn't work in FF but was in IE (it may be displaying ® correctly on the Admin page - not sure).
Just create a new category, and move everything over with like just one click. And than delete the other category, rename the one you just made.Originally Posted by notkristina
Thats a way around it, if the :none: function does not work.
Cheers.
I found the fix!! What I did to remove a picture from a category was to browse for a picture:
C:\Documents and Settings\Download\purewater4u\images\dot_clear.gif
and then replaced "dot_clear.gif" with the word none
C:\Documents and Settings\Download\purewater4u\images\none
Click Save and the picture disappears. I'm using IE6 and just typing in the word none does not work.
Should work for everyone not using Firefox.
