Using 1.3.9.h
I just installed First Data payment module, in testing mode. I get a failed message. I called First Data, they claim that they changed their SSL and I need to update my shopping cart payment module.
Anybody else having this problem?

Turn on the debug logging in the module's admin settings, and post the log details after testing another transaction.
There should be no need to rewrite SSL logic.

That means that when CURL asked your server to try to connect to the destination server it was unable to do so.
Most likely the port is blocked in your hosting company's firewall.

And Dr. Byte saves the world again! Yes that was it.
Thank you Dr. Byte, and thanks to the zen cart team.
Add my thanks to that as well, had the same problem on a new shop on a new host. Had them open up port 1129, TCP and bidirectional, and no more problem.
thanks for the tips. I was having the same issues with my host. on shared servers they do not open up tcp port 1129, wish i knew that earlier...
After upgrading my Bluehost account to a 64 bit server, link point can no longer connect (connection 7) with First Data. First Data stated the API will not work on a 64 bit system and recommended switching to "Web Service API". Since we can no longer keep CC information so as to process manually, my site is dead in the water. Any suggestions, will Web Service API work? Please help!
Um ... The Zen Cart firstdata implementation has nothing to do with being 64 bit or not. It simply makes a connection from your server to the destination server, in a way that is agnostic to being 32-bit or 64-bit or whatever-bit.
If you're getting "7 - couldn't connect to host" errors, that means exactly what it said: cannot connect to host. ie: your hosting server is unable to make a connection to the firstdata server ... and that's almost always because the server's firewall is blocking things.
See my post #4 above.
Go back to the setup instructions and give them to your hosting company to get the port opened properly: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=298

Hi - I'm having the very same issue. Our host doesn't open tcp port 1129 on their shared hosting sites because of the security issues with opening additional ports. I'm hoping that there is a way to reconfigure Zen cart to use port 443 or 80, which they recommended. Since many small businesses can't afford Virtual Private Servers or Managed Hosting, I was hoping Zen Cart was able to take the security on shared hosting into account and offer alternative ports.

We used a different paid cart before and there were no port issues. I've used Zen Cart in the past (long past, 2008!) when I freelanced for a discount web company as a designer, and the hosting solution we put the carts on was shared hosting, but I don't know about the ports as the company set them up, we just customized the interface. This is my first time installing the SSL and setting up the Gateway API (we're using FirsrData Global), and I want to get it right on the first go! Thanks so much for your support.
