Default Can I inegrate Zen Cart in my site?

    Hello,
I have already built my website and I now wonder if I can somehow integrate Zen Cart into that. I realize that I have probably started the project at the wrong end, but I'd be gutted if I have to start all over again.
I would be very grateful for some help and information.
    Kind regards,
    Gloria2

Generally, Zencart is a complete shopping cart program, and isn't designed or meant to be used as a 'back-end' cart script for an existing website. You could install Zencart in a subdirectory (/shop, for example) and style it to look like your existing site and link to it from the main site. If you provide a link to your site, we can offer advice as to how difficult that styling might be.

Thank you for replying so quickly, Stevesh.
I made the "index" page and started on the "rings". I am not used to website building and have only a sketchy knowledge of html programming, that's why I'm unwilling to start all over again. I'm doing this site for my daughter and she likes the layout as it is. How can I get this to work with Zen Cart do you think? I have uploaded the pages to my DropBox at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4199571/anna/index.html
as I don't have hosting yet.
    Kind regards,
    Gloria2

As Stevish says it will involve more styling & linking however it can be done. Set up a Cname. A example of a cname is i.e. 'shop.yoursite.com' or 'wiki.yoursite.com' or'forums.yoursite.com' that becomes the browser path to your store.
have your host setup the 'Cname' to point at the folder in your web directory where you intend to install 'ZenCart' then you are ready to go. then you have styling and linking to do. NOT to mention setting up Zencart itself.

Personally I would start again with zencart, your style and layout would not be hard to do in zen and by the time you link and add pages to and from your html site you would have a fully functioning and operating zencart without the risk of running into problems later like sessions etc etc etc

    Hello Donal,

    Yes, I suppose............
That leads me to another question of course. How to install Zen Cart to my PC as I don't yet have hosting?

    Grateful for a pointer.

It can be done of course but it involves a lot of extra work on your part, installing xamp and things like phpadmin etc etc then when you have the site built you need to redo the whole thing on a webserver anyway but hosting is cheap! and if your site is on a webserver it makes it much easier to get help and advice from here when we can actually see the problem (if there is one )

Right! Just goes to show what a novice I am; I had no idea how much it was going to test my little grey cells when I agreed to do this! So now I'll try to find optimal hosting and start over. I'm lucky, though, that this forum has such nice members offering good support and advice.
Thank you all. I'll be back for sure.

    Kind regards,
    Gloria2
