The Install page won't display

I so need help with this if I am ever going to get this program reloaded.

I have done all the unzip on my own computer and have uploaded to the server... (utilizing mysql and a new database).
(I have had zencart version 1.3.8a working on my site for months. This is about my grief in getting a fresh version installed...I am halted at the point of the 'zc_install' step.)

IE

the http://www.mydomain.com/catalog/zc_install (utilizing my domain and folder of course).

The 1st step "http://www.mydomain.com/catalog" in the install process from the browser goes to the correct location, but the next click to "install" goes to a 'page IIS Page cannot be displayed".

I have done everything with the permission changes on my host server... what more is there to try? I simply cannot figure out why I cannot get to the install page from my browser... and I have emptied the cache.

My index .php is definitely loaded.

I finally got an answer from my web host technical support.

I quote:

"The issue was a .htaccess file in the zc_install sub directory. These linux files don't work the same in a windows environment. I have deleted the file so you can now see the install steps correctly. If you see that error ever again, search and destroy those files from the file manager."

I finally got an answer from my web host technical support.

As you are on a windoze server you will have to take your own measures to secure your site

htaccess files are there for security reasons

Perhaps, but no where did I come across insight that these htaccess files will make it impossible to complete your install unless you get rid of them. I had to in-fact get rid of all of them where ever they were found. This should be stated in the 'set up" docs, but it is not.

As it is not standard for windoze aservers and depends upon how the server is configured for the AMP stack there is not a one answer fits all solution

It does function much more reliably on a 'nix based server if you are not tied to windoze for some other reason
