Payment calculation total does not ad up?

When I reach Payment information in Checkout process the total is not correctly calculated. See example below


Sub-Total $24.00 which is correct
Tax $2.40 which is correct
Total $24.00 incorrect

The total is always incorrect. It should be $26.40


Does anyone know the answer to this puzzle? As usual it is probably simple but I can’t seem to find the way to fix it. I never was good with mathematics at school. lol

My store is set up as located in New South Wales, Australia which is correct.

My prices do not include tax. Each product is set up as Tax class - Taxable goods. Products price (net) & (gross) are correct on product page.

Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Hi, I am having the same problem. I think that the tax class I created for my products adds up all the different tax rates I created (I set up different tax rates for each of the 50 US states I ship to). My store is:

How can I fix this? My customers don't like being charged 400% extra. Thanks!

When you set up the Zone Definitions ... what did you set for the DETAILS of each of the Zones so that it would limit that Zone Definition and its Tax Rate to only the 1 State?

I'm not really sure, since I'm not very knowledgeable about zen cart.

I first set up 50 zones under Admin->Location/Taxes->Zone Definitons. Then, I made 50 tax rates. When you create a new tax rate, its asks for the zone and all the zones I created were in the drop down list.

In between the two steps ... after you make a Zone Definition, you will see a button for DETAILS ... if you click that button, what DETAILS do you see set for the
Country:
Zone:

or have you perhaps not yet not added them to you Zone Definitions?

After I created the tax rates, I went back to the Zone Definitions, but they were still not configured (indicated by the red dot). So I went into California, and created a Sub Zone. I selected US for the country and California for the Zone. Went I went back, the red dot was replaced with a green dot.
