Default Concerning that ugly old top banner

I posted a while back trying to figure out how to chabge that ugly old banner at the top of the page, the one that has a graphic that says "Powered by Zen Cart" and "The art of e-commerce".
I did not make much progress from that long thread even with y'alls help.
Tonight however, I did manage to change the tag line (the art of e-commerce) to what I wanted. In the same place (includes/languages/english/classic/header.php) I thought I also changed the "powered by Zen Cart" blab but what I changed was just the alt-text which did nothing.
So here is my question...What exactly IS that box at the top of the page that stretches all the way across the page? Is it a banner? I disabled all the banners and its still there. Is it a configurable HTML spot? I changed the tag line but the title appears to not be changable. I also see that the lower half of the box area is called "header 2" but I do not find a way to put anything there.
So has anyone successfully removed that obtrusive thing and replaced it with what they want there?

Starting a new thread for the same question won't get you any better answers. Many thousands of people have successfully changed the default logo and tagline.
The header area between the top navbar and the lower navbar(s) is #logoWrapper, which contains #logo with the logo image, and #taglineWrapper, which contains #tagline with the tagline text.
There is no such thing as "header2" in the stock template.

The graphic is logo.gif, and if you make your own logo with the same dimensions, you can just name it logo.gif and save it in /includes/templates/your_template/images/, replacing the original.
