We used Authorize.net (SIM) for a full year with Chase... no problems.
That's for SIM, not AIM.
Maybe Chase doesn't support AIM, and thus you'll have to use the less friendly SIM approach instead?

Figured out the problem.
I went back to SIM. And updated the authorizenet.php file:
Find this line:
var $exact_mode;
Change it to:
var $exact_mode = self::hosted;
It was in the instructions.. I just missed it.
Thanks for confirming that the problem was in the customized version of the authorize.net SIM payment module you were using, and not with the built-in Zen Cart modules.
