Default Re: Problem with cookies and authorize.net checkout

I'm going crazy with this problem. I'm in testing mode for the authorize.net (SIM) shipping module. Every time I go through checkout and get to submit I get the message that says my browser doesn't support cookies. I have tried everything I've found about this problem, but NOTHING works.

    Here is my setup:
    I have zencart v1.3.9h
    my store url is www.inspirewellnesscenter.com/zcart/
I've tried this on 3 different machines with different setups and the same thing happens on all of them.
    I've used: a laptop w Windows 7 and IE 8, then upgraded to IE9
    I've used: a laptop w XP and IE8
I've used: a Mac Book Pro
I have Force Cookie Usage set to True
I have Prevent Spider Sessions set to True but also tried it FALSE
I have cleared my browsers' cache, cleared history, cookies, tmp files
I have set internet security to Medium and allowed all 1st party cookies and allowed all session cookies
I also switched to the Classic template and the problem remained

I found a previous post in General Information called:
Re: Clicking Checkout shows Cookies not enabled message
posted on 30th August 2010, 07:32 AM by egotist who had the same problem and fixed it by removing search from the spiders.txt file. I uploaded the spiders.txt that was provided in that post thread and still the problem persists.

I don't know what to do next.

    Thanks,
    hollyneedles

What happens if you set force cookie usage to false?

Also - who is your host?

OMG, I turned Force Cookie Usage to False and it worked on one laptop. I'm now running to my two other machines to try it there. I will let you know as soon as I test them as well.

    My hopes are rising...

    Thanks,

Ok, I tried the other two machines and now I can get all the way through checkout - no cookie message. So, is this Force cookie usage setting = false ok to use? Everyone and their brother says it has to be true. Is it going to affect me in any other way?

Also, my hosting server is stellardomainhosting.com

Right now I'm really relieved that I can get through the shopping cart. Just let me know if I need to change anything somewhere else because Force cookie usage is now false.

Thanks so much I'm going to continue testing the shopping cart.

Who's telling you it needs to be set to True?
    The default setting is False.
And, as with all the settings in the Sessions menu, the defaults are also the recommended settings.

Thank you for that info, I will rest easier that I'm not using an abnormal setting. So far, my testing is going well, I'm not quite done, but I'm getting through checkout and so far no more problems.

Thank you sooo much for the help.

    Holly
