Compare multiple products - support thread

This is an old thread, but I think I will use this as the support thread for the updated version I am making for this module.

For now the updates can be found here on github.
When installing please be sure tor remove any previous versions of this mod first.

What has changed:

• Updated to the build in Zen Cart Ajax function. So only Zen Cart 1.5.5 and newer are supported.
• Removed unneeded files
• made changes so only one core file needs editing. (trying to make this 0 in future versions

I altered the original as well due to the invalid argument foreach. I downloaded your github files but had to change most the config names to work and add the missing define page. Also no display was included.

I made several changes for your review but am unable to submit a pull request, I also added an admin auto install, for some reason.

Thanks for the feedback, I am very curious to your changes, as it works fine for me.
Not sure why a Pull request doe not work, as it is a standard git repo. You can send me a mail with a zip of your version , so I can review it

I see you already implemented some extras I have on my list too, like the button on the product info page. I am not sure i like the popup when a compare is selected. I think it is to intrusive.

I added the popup cause I saw no display, why I said "Also no display was included.". The popup for comparing products is becoming part of many commercial templates. I thought about adding a switch so one could choose (popup, sidebox, messagestack, link, ect)

Still not sure whats up with github, tried again late last night to no aval.

The weekends are busy for my B&M business so I'll pick this up again Monday.

No worries, my time is limited too. The current compare display is only on the listing page, as it always has been. Maybe it's an idea to add a (pull-down) bar to the top or bottom of the page where it will show when products are selected. And add a switch like you mentioned to let the shop owner decide between popup or bar.

Updating this module has been long overdue. I finally got to update version 1.0.2 to 1.1.0

Version 1.1.0-RC.2 can now be downloaded for testing at GitHub

The update includes:

• remove Zen Cart file edits where possible, moving code to an observer.
• remove old obsolete files
• add an admin auto-installer to add database switches for turning parts of the module on or off.
• The compare buttons now show on:
  
  • product-listing
  • search results
  • new products listing
  • featured products listing
  • all products listing

Before releasing the production version of 1.1.0, I planning to add:

• compare buttons on product specials listing page
• product info page
• Update the documentation

For future versions I want to add the ability to compare product attributes as well. Any wishes for this module please let me know.

Version 1.1.0 is planned to be released before the end of January (This year ).
