Remove Left Column and add images on right column

I am new to zencart. I have ZC 3.9h

I need to make changes to my layout like this:
I want to remove the left column completely. And on the right column, I will like to add images representing my three categories.

Does any one know how I can accomplish.

Sure you can:

admin panel/ configuration/ layout settings/ column left status and column right status

In what way do you want to add category images? Do you want them to be separate from the navigation, or the means of navigation to your categories? Do you have any subcategories?

No. I don't have any subcategories.
I just want to make my own images seperate from the ZC navigation. I have links directly to my products from outside ZC.
So I don't need the navigation.
I need to know how to do this or files to edit to accomplish this.

I used Os commerce a few years back where I simply edit the right column file - right column.php and added the images. On zen cart I don't know if there is an easier way of doing the same things or where the right column file is even located.

Thanks a lot. That was very helpful in getting rid of the left column. No if I can figure how to add my own costume images to the right column, I will be ready to go.

You would turn off the boxes here:
admin panel/ tools/ layout boxes controller

Then apply this tutorial to the #navColumnTwo or the #navColumnTwoWrapper

You say you want links to categories and to products - which is it? Do the categories have more than one product each?

Replacing sidebox headings with images will not help you here.
You can use Categories Dressing and replace the category names with images by following its directions.
