Default Re: Trouble with installing zencart of GODADDY?

Your choice of GoDaddy is still a bad one.

Bear in mind that they do not configure their servers for rubust and efficient eCommerce. They run a cheap operation, because a lot of the configuration needed for eCommerce requires cost. GoDaddy does not like the word "cost".

Over the years we have helped scores of zencart site owners move off GoDaddy after problem upon problem upon problem.

    Move now, WHILE YOU CAN...

If you intend to take your online business seriously, then take my advice. You HAVE to (as indeed does everyone who wants to do eCommerce properly) host with a company that configures their equipment to handle it.

If you choose to stay with them, expect to come to the forum in tears many times in future...

I'm not too surprised... after reading around, I saw a lot of members saying the same thing. Moving is a hassle... so I wasn't sure when I would be ready to do it, although I figured I'd need to.

In which case, who do you recommend? Bluehost?

Make a selection from any of the CERTIFIED HOSTS (see link above).

Moving a site takes about 20 minutes... and in some cases, your new CERTIFIED HOST may offer to do the move for you FOR FREE.

After opening an account, the site gets moved, you do a NS update, and in a couple of hours your site is live again.

I used to have my eCommerce site on Godaddy's servers but due to many issues like email and lack of gzip support, I moved it out to be hosted elsewhere. Glad I did...I got both these options resolved and cheaper hosting fees.
