Multiple Items Together - Weight Issue

Hi

I had posted this in the Setting Up Categories, Products, Attributes forum, but haven't had any luck there, so posting here instead.

I am using the Ship by Weight module, with no issues on single product purchases. The problem comes when a customer buys an item with its accessories.

E.g. A customer buys Product A that ships for $20 at 10kg.

Accessory A for that item has a weight of 500g.

Up to 25 Accessory A's can be added to Product A, which would take the weight to 22.5kg. This then makes the shipping $35.

What I am trying to achieve is free shipping (or rather, no weight) on Accessory A when bought at the same time as Product A.

E.g. A customer buys Product A, with anywhere from 1-25 Accessory A's, but pays only $20 (the 10kg price instead of taking it up to 22.5kg).

BUT this is only if the items are bought together and at the same time, so the separate weights apply when purchased separately.

It is clear, but there's no feature in Zen Cart's core to do this.

You would need to customise the weight calculation based on your specific needs.

You might be able to do this by inserting your custom code into the extra cart actions section (there's more on this in the wiki) but I can't be sure as I've never personally tried to tweak the weight calculations.
