HELP needed with setting up a offline store for development

Oh PLZ help me im stuck. Ive spent all day at work and my whole data cap trying to get a running site that is stored on my PC.

I downloaded EasyPHP and I have a coppy of the Zencart files on my PC in a folder. I just want to get the web browser to display like a normal online site but just the files I have on the PC.

I Want to then change my files and so on until I have the look rite, then I want to upload the new site to my old site. I dont have a problem with having to redo all my client info or products I have loaded as this is a new store. BUT PLEASE HELP ME! IM STUCK!

oh and please im kinda NEW so explanations will be great.

I did search and found a thread with this problem thats how I got EasyPHP but I cant understand the rest? I read so far I ended up in Wikipidia?

don't know anything about EasyPHP.....BUT

I just got my local server running.

Dell Latitude E6400 running XP Professional SP 3
XAMPP
NetBeans
XDebug

You will need to modify the config settings according to how you install it. This is mostly about how you set up your directories. If you use the base install, then you have to move your files to the "root" as defined as C:/XMAPP/htmldocs in the config files.

OK ive downloaded WAMP Server but I see its newer. But yes ive done everything and came rite upto the part ware it tels me to enter : http://localhost/zcinstall/index.php

I get an error all the time HTTP404 Not Found.

Now what?

OK so now I have got it working, the new version looks a bit different but ultimately I came rite.

But now I have the site running with the new zencart and it has no public_html folder? Now how do I upload images to and how do I specify there path in the EZ and Defined pages?
